OT Phenomena: Miss your dead parents? Scientology can help with that!

The new OT Phenomena are here, and they offer a glimmer of hope that this once-vaunted feature may be turning a corner!

Our regular readers know that we have been highly critical of what was once one of the most popular things Scientology published, its monthly stories about what its “OT” members were able to accomplish with their hard-won super abilities: Moving things with their minds, saving people from accidents, and encountering free thetans at the cemetery.

For years, we enjoyed reading the ghost stories Scientologists pass off as evidence that they are gaining superpowers in Scientology’s “Operating Thetan” levels, which they can only get to after years of dedication and hundreds of thousands of dollars down the drain.

In order to keep the pilgrims on the hook, Scientology’s Advance! magazine has been publishing the “OT Phenomena” column for decades, and former editor Jefferson Hawkins told us it was always the most popular feature in the publication. In the 1970s, when Jefferson was running it, the claims of super abilities were really something. We’ll never forget, for example, the OT supplicant who described leaving his body, traveling across the country in ethereal form to a hospital, and then participating in his friend’s surgery to help him pull through. Now that’s a creative use of occult prowess!

Sadly, more recent examples of the column have become rather tepid, with OTs claiming to have experienced the most trivial of coincidences. One tired example: The OT who thinks of a missing item and then it turns up.

This newest column does contain one of those dull claims, but it ends on the first honest-to-goodness ghost encounter in a long, long time. And we hope it’s a sign of things to come!

Stories Of Thetan Abilities At Work

A Friend In Need

While I was on OT I, I received a message from one of my best friends back in my home country. He told me that things were not going well — in fact, they were going from bad to worse for him. I could tell that he had lost faith in himself.

At that point, I decided I would help him, no matter what. So knowing there was no solution bound by the MEST universe that would work, I made the decision to help him by utilizing LRH Tech to give him the ability to help himself.

I then reached out to him and shared a couple LRH references I thought he needed. I also told him, “You won’t fail. You’re winning,” because that was my postulate.

A few days later, he texted me and said that he managed to get out of trouble — he had even sought out and received auditing. He was extremely grateful for my ARC and support and told me, “It’s what revitalized me.”

That’s when I knew I saved a dear friend of mine, solely by the force of my decision and applying the Tech. — D.I.

Magic Pen Pal

I couldn’t find the pen for my tablet, even though I was sure I had put it in my bag. I searched my apartment thoroughly. It was gone.

But I made a postulate nothing gets lost. So I stopped stressing and went to bed.

The next morning, I walked into the living room and there was my pen. It was sitting neatly on the table — a place I had searched several times. I live alone and no one could have moved it. And yet there it was. It was pure magic! — E.V.C.

No Compromise On Being Cause

I was traveling on a bus with my bike, and I had my bag on the seat next to me. I got off the bus and forgot my bag. I knew it had to be recovered. There was no other option. I rode my bike after the bus, but couldn’t catch it. So I left my bike on the road and flagged down a driver to help me.

A man stopped and we drove after the bus and, after a few minutes, we caught up and I got my bag back. The man driving the car then took me back to where everything started — and there was my bike. All was fine again. There was no compromise about being cause — I was going to get everything back and I did. — K.P.

Simply Putting OT Powers to Work

I was getting ready to launch a major project, but there was one last thing to handle before we could start. We needed to add one more person to the team and whoever it was had to be someone truly capable. They needed to be well trained and preferably high on the Bridge.

That night my business partner and I were discussing this personnel situation, when I simply stated what kind of person I needed — the ideal person for the job. Then literally, just a couple of minutes later, that exact person walked by.

Just to be clear, it was already 9:00 at night. There were almost no people around, and yet there he appeared. On his own, he approached us and offered to help. That very same evening we signed him up. It felt unreal, but at that moment I clearly experienced the power of OT. — S.O.

A Daughter’s Theta Comm

About a week after my father’s burial, I went back to the cemetery to visit his grave.

I noticed he was still around, and he seemed very unhappy. I contacted him and asked what was on his mind.

He said he had an unresolved situation with my mother, but he didn’t know how to handle it, as she had already passed.

I acknowledged him and directed him to get in comm with her. Suddenly, I could also perceive her presence and their communication about the situation. She assured him all was fine, and that he didn’t have to worry any longer.

They were then able to happily go their own ways. — U.S.
