Yesterday Marcy Wheeler, the formidable and brilliant journalist who goes by “emptywheel” online, posted a list of potential witnesses in the upcoming trial of billionaire financier and close Donald Trump friend, Tom Barrack. Federal prosecutors say that Barrack, while he was serving on Trump’s inaugural committee in 2017, was taking money from the United Arab Emirates on the one hand while he was lobbying Trump on behalf of the UAE on the other hand, and without registering as a lobbyist for the Middle East nation.
