Although the eye of Hurricane Helene passed more than a hundred miles to the west of the Tampa Bay area as it churned its way north yesterday to a landfall in the Big Bend coastal area as a Category 4 storm with 140 mph winds, Helene’s storm surge produced historic flooding in Tampa and Clearwater, where one of the largest concentrations of Scientologists in the world is.
The storm surge was incredible. One hundred miles away from the eye and still huge flooding on the west coast of Florida. Think about how bad it is in the panhandle and in Georgia. Good luck people and remember to volunteer with your local volunteer fire department.
My folks in Oldsmar have a biblical amount of sticks and leaves in their pool, not least because the wind ripped the door out of the screen enclosure. I’m very, very glad they no longer live out on Sand Key.
This would have been the perfect time for OT phenomena! Seriously though, I have spent a lot of time in Pinellas County and I hope everyone is OK. It's a beautiful place.
I hope everyone, including Scientologists, are safe. Maybe Wise Beard Man will see this too and let us know.
Good, and best of luck to people who are hit by all this nature.

Thank you for this update. I was hopeful that Mike would avoid the major power of the storm

I am in the center of Florida above Orlando and things are fine here. No visible flooding.
