Missing family in Scientology? Check out these new photos for your loved ones
It’s happened enough times over the years that it’s something we try not to forget: When we post Scientology’s photos of staff and Sea Org members, it can help a family get some information about a missing loved one.
There was the time, for example, that one of our readers recognized her father she hadn’t seen in seven years in a photo from the Valley Ideal Org. And we certainly remember when Kate Bornstein got her first glimpse in decades of a daughter who had turned up in a story here.
So, keeping that in mind, we noticed that some very detailed photos of Ideal Org staffs were included in the slide show from the L. Ron Hubbard Birthday Celebration that took place in March in Clearwater, Florida. The big news from that slide show was that for the second year in a row, actress and lifelong Scientologist Elisabeth Moss could be seen in the front row, giving church leader David Miscavige a standing ovation.
But also, as part of his hours-long speech, Miscavige continues to insist that his brainstorm about sending org staffs to Flag for special “admin” training is going to finally solve the problem with Ideal Orgs, which have never produced the boom in interest in Scientology that Miscavige promised.
“After unveiling the off-the-charts results from the first 12 Organizations to implement this program, Mr. Miscavige introduced new teams that recently graduated and returned to their Ideal Orgs in North America, Europe and Asia,” says the press release about the event.
What followed were a series of photos of the staffs, posing in the statuary atrium of the Flag building. And as you can see if you click on them, you’ll see that they are quite detailed.
We thought that might help some families who might be looking for loved ones on staff or in the Sea Org. If you recognize someone, please say something in the comments or drop us a line. We’d really like to know if these images helped someone out.

Group Therapy: Our round table of rowdy regulars on the week’s news

Didn't see anyone I recognized, but most of those kids would have been toddlers when I was in or not born yet. Sucks to get old.
Interesting to see that Dave is channeling one of Hubbard's old tricks. On the Apollo they delivered the Flag Executive Briefing Course. You were supposed to do that in just a week or so (quickie!) and go back to greatly expand or "boom" your org. I remember the graphs that my 70s mission holder proudly showed, straight up and vertical!
Lots of pressure on those executives, as there is now on those glowing faces in their Olive Garden wannnabe uniforms. Pressure that leads to all kinds of abuse and terror when the "standard technology" fails.
Since it fundamentally does not work, of course it will fail. But this cannot be accepted as an excuse, so the pressure is on to make it work anyway. Predatory credit schemes, predation on the vulnerable, lies and fabricated statistics all arise from this kind of unrelenting demand to "boom the stats". The only booms they will hear are the implosions of their families and dreams.
Yes, that is important to show the photos Scientology puts out of the Scientology staffs put on display, for the painful benefit of finding where one's family lost their normal mind and ran off into Scientology's cult bureaucracy.
One of the Achilles Heals of Scientology, where things Hubbard ordered are repetitively done.
Finding out Scientology/Hubbard's repeating patterns, like their photo taking of themselves and placing their photos in their Scientology magazines and promotional printed and digital show off stuff on the Scientology TV channel, is important to keep watch of by those family cut off from Scientology, if they want painfully be reminded of their lost family.
A side business around all the major Scientology continental cities of where the Sea Org cloistered and hidden and "run away" (voluntarily) family members are lured, the business could be a "Xenu Half Way House" for taking in recent escaped Sea Orger quitters, and also a clearing house info to visiting parent wishing updates on where their family work, which buildings, and arrange chance meetings with long lost family.
When I was Sea Org me and my then spouse's parents came to visit us since going to visit them was out of the question as the rules tightened on "taking leaves" and lack of having a replacement to even take a leave which also with no money to take flights to see family.
So parents came to Clearwater, and LA, to visit us, my sister and brother also, they came to LA to visit, that way.
If someone in Sea Org plays by all the rules, that's the "best" way to see family, they come to you at the hub city.
You'd think even a PI firm that sides with the family of the lost Sea Orgers would specialize in finding out best ways to engineer quick meets and beat the Scientology system of schedules and lack of time off to even have a tiny unsanctioned chance meet.
I thought all these things, after I quit, and went to LA and watched the schedules, watched the busing around, and noticed the 'events' schedules and busing they do.
During the events free time, when staff are going to the LA events at the Shrine, would be a good time.
Also CSP (Sunday cleaning time Sunday morning when some Sea Orgers bug out from their Sea Org berthing to have a snack or coffee) is a good time to cross their paths by outside family trying to intersect with their stuck Sea Org kin.
Me, when I was in Sea Org, I played by the rules, and squeezed in time to visit family by the rule book. That meant family coming to where I was stationed in Sea Org.
