Scientology doesn’t want you looking at their rotting un-Ideal Orgs!

There’s no doubt, Phil and Willie Jones are two of our favorite people here at the Underground Bunker. And it’s always great to hear what they’ve been up to lately.

Being in town for a few days, Willie and I took a little visit to see if Scientology had started renovations on the building that is supposed to become Winnipeg’s Ideal Org.

We first visited this building about 12 or 13 years ago, and Winnipeg Scientology had owned the building for a few years before that. Since then it’s sat empty with not a single thing done to fix it up.

Just down the street from the future Ideal Org is where the current Winnipeg Org is located. It’s just a storefront on a side street near downtown. There’s no real parking nearby, so anyone visiting the current Org would have to park and walk a ways, or take a bus downtown.

The place they have for the future Ideal Org is a beautiful old building that could be a showpiece if fixed up. But it’s huge and there’s no way Winnipeg Scientology has enough people to staff up the first floor, let alone the entire building.

I’ve never seen Winnipeg on any of the “next Ideal Org to be renovated” lists that I can recall. I doubt there are enough Scientologists in Winnipeg to raise any significant amount of money for renovations. Toronto would likely be first in line if Canadian Scientologists rallied around to get another Ideal Org open. The Winnipeg Ideal Org will never get done.

It seems that Scientology Winnipeg knew we were coming and had their requisite ‘video in your face’ guy springing out from behind the deserted building. I gave him my name just in case he didn’t have it already.

From what we’ve seen lately there isn’t much left of Scientology in Canada. Cheers to that.
