Scientology has put out a new issue of Impact magazine, and that means it’s time to set sail for some whale watching!
In December, Scientology’s Impact magazine identified the big donors (we call them “whales”) who received trophies at the IAS Patron’s Ball at Saint Hill in England in November. These were the really big leviathans like Trish Duggan, who has given something nearing half a billion in donations.
Then another issue of the magazine came out in June celebrating the opening of the Paris Ideal Org, and it also recognized a set of donors. And now, just a couple of weeks before this year’s big IAS bash in England, there’s yet another new issue of the magazine, this time themed around Scientology’s anti-drug stance, and once again a new list of donors and their new statuses is included. And we always like to see who is adding to church leader David Miscavige’s mountainous slush fund.
As always, it’s really important to keep in mind that these are cumulative amounts given just to one Scientology initiative, the International Association of Scientologists, the church’s membership organization. Someone credited for giving $1 million, for example, may have given only a few thousand in recent months that enabled them to get past that plateau. (For an explanation of how we know what amounts the statuses represent or the estimates we’ve made for some of them, see our methodology here.)
OK, here we go, starting with million-dollar-plus donors who were pictured in the magazine. A more complete list follows.
Gold Meritorious ($1 million)
“Scientology is the only solution to remove the entheta in the world and create a future for our children. Supporting the IAS is the way you help on a larger scale. If you want to create something big, then you need a big organization with energy.”
— Peter Roelens & Sabine Osaer
“Advancing our status is a pro-survival flow to an organization that creates expansion for Scientology and is there when it is needed most. This is the best investment for anybody.”
— Levi Vaneycken & Lilia Cruz
Gold Meritorious With Honors ($1.75 million)
“Supporting the IAS is the way we are going to really be able to handle the areas that need to be handled so that we can keep expanding. It makes me proud to know that I am contributing to projects that allow us to safeguard and expand.”
— Eva Scott
Platinum Meritorious ($2.5 million)
"The IAS is the group of very dedicated people who are, through activities and actions that support Scientology, making the salvation of the planet possible."
— Thomas & Dagmar Röder
“We are the IAS, and we as a group are the only thing that stands between a world going up and a world going down. It is not just the contribution: it is the commitment. You are making a commitment with the rest of us that we are going to change the world.”
— Jim & Kelly Speiser
Platinum Meritorious With Honors ($3.75 million)
“It is a shoulder-to-shoulder effort for all of us to make sure the IAS is really strong and has a lot of resources there in case of any eventuality.”
— Shahab & Catherine Emrani
Diamond Meritorious ($5 million)
“I’m passionate about bringing Scientology to everybody on the planet. Supporting the IAS and donating toward new Ideal Orgs is not just about the buildings. It is about the people that are going to find Scientology and achieve freedom because of it.”
— Barbara & Atena Santos-Schneider, Diamond Meritorious, Florida, USA
Patron Laureate With Honors ($11 million)
“If you want this planet to be salvaged and not go into the Dark Ages again — as it is going that direction right now — get really serious and knowledgeable about what the IAS makes possible. Most importantly, do what you can do to salvage this planet, and you can do that through the IAS.”
— Norm & Terri Novitsky, Patron Laureate With Honors, Florida, USA
Patron Excalibur With Honors ($21 million)
“The world needs Scientology and fast. We support the IAS as it makes it possible to open new Ideal Orgs in major cities around the planet and provides real solutions with the IAS-sponsored campaigns that save lives every day. We are proud to help and be part of this group.”
— Alan & Sheila Atkinson-Baker, Patron Excalibur With Honors, Florida, USA
The issue also came with a list of donors and their statuses which didn’t necessarily correspond with the people in the photos. Well, it makes sense to Scientology anyway.
We’re happy to help Dave celebrate his wealthy supporters as they continue to clear the planet!

If thats the direction it is going right now, what the heck have these people been doing all these years?!?!?
Cue takedown notice in 3..2..1 for the photos. Hope you have bowling trophies ready.
The IRS and/or FBI really needs to take note. These are some mighty huge numbers being bandied around for a tax exempt organization. What are they being used for? Really. Why is this being allowed? Why are Norm and Terri Novitski throwing away $11+ million? Who is being helped by this? Where did Trish Duggar’s half a BILLION dollars go? She jailed an investor for what, in her world, is pocket change. Yet she lets half a billion dollars just go unaccounted for.
I was numb to these numbers for some time, now they anger me again. Alex and crew will be protesting the party they throw for these dupes in just over two weeks. Some of the money they “donate” is being used to bribe government officials to try to stop freedom of speech. The money they spend will be used to keep them imprisoned.
No party will save them. The gala is just another classist way of having overworked Sea Org staff cater to a select few who for some reason still throw their money at Miscavige. I hope the peaceful protest shows at least the East Grinstead Council that they are being duped.
