doing it, as Staff Members.” So let me get this straight, staff members lead society forward along side the people they are fighting? So they will be working along side Tony, Mike, Jeffrey Augustine, Karen De La Carierre and other notable suppressive persons?
Dave will attend the 'grand opening' via Skype or via some internet service like that. Fear of process servers will keep him in the CW. This 'opening' will be the stealthiest in the history of thetans. I wonder if cake and ice cream will be served?
Maybe some tech savvy process server can tap into the ip address of where Dave is hiding. What a miserable life. I’d rather have very little and be loved than have billions and be afraid of my own shadow.
Not being a Scientology member, I have a question: Are "staff" members all part of SeaOrg? Or are they paid at least minimum wage? I have an acquaintance who went to Clearwater to go on staff and am (and have been) concerned for her.
Michelle, staff is not part of Sea Org. That actually makes it better and worse for your friend, and your concern is well placed.
I am only speculating here but my guess is she went to Clearwater to train to be staff somewhere else. The place she is going to be staff pays for communal berthing while your friend is in Clearwater and she is expected to work menial jobs when not training.
Once this girl goes to wherever they are going the be staff, then it becomes real:
A staff member signs a 2 1/2 to 5 year contract. They are provided no housing (food or berthing), which, although deplorable, a sea org member does get. They are expected to figure out how to eat and where to live on the pay they receive from being on staff.
When they sign on, they are promised great pay and short working hours or whatever it takes to suck them in. The staff member is paid a percentage of the income the org makes each week after expenses. If they are lucky, they will get maybe even a couple of hundred dollars in a great week. They usually get very little, sometimes nothing.
The only way they can afford to continue being a staff member is if they get a second job, and that is frowned on, or if someone else supports them.
You’re right Mark, I was being generous, and basing my numbers on staff pay back in the day when people actually still went to the orgs and before the ideal org program overhead for their opulent buildings sucked any chance of having anything left for the staff out of the equation.
Some staff are Sea Org, most are not and they do not receive minimum wage. They receive a stipend that may reach $50/month. Most do not get that amount. Most staff sign a 2 or 5 year contract and as 'religious' workers, they don't have to get minimum wage.
I think that staff have to find their own place to stay, but often local $cienos will help out. Most Staff have outside jobs to pay the rent and eat. Big Blue and Clearwater and a few other locations do provide lodging and food.
I was in Austin org a few years ago and overheard an older gentleman on staff tell the receptionist he was being evicted because he had no money for rent and was there anything they could do to help him. The receptionist basically said "no, you are on your own, good luck." (I was sitting on a bench pretending to watch the intro film so I purposely eavesdropped. The whole thing was so sad. He should have been sitting at home, playing with the grandkids, and getting Social Security.
In that sense, LHS was a smart man... knew how to set things up to be super-wealthy while his "adherents" struggled. One of the original "prosperity" preachers.

* Some people realized he was a scammer and started suing him.
