What does Dave give these whales, worth so much time, effort and cash? How can they justify giving up family, friends? What the actual f?
He makes them feel that they signify something. That they are not idiots. That they are not walking shadows but immortals. That they can use their illusion (credit to Guns and Roses though he seemingly never wrote the song, just the album title) to cruise their delusions.
Wish I could tell them, in a way they'd understand, there are less expensive and more effective ways to find purpose in life. Volunteer at a homeless shelter or a food bank. Take care of your aging parents. Be a friend to a friend.
We're never going to save the world, it's too big for us. Save a neighbor.
The numbers weren't even that great for a "major religion" (their words) that's been around in one form or another since the 1950s. If they really listened and did the math... they would open their wallet to pay for the upcoming newly revised this time it's for sure 100% Source set of Basics. Once you're indoctrinated it's hard to convince yourself to go against what you were told/taught or to admit you may have made a mistake. *sigh*
When I finally turned my back on Scientology in 1988, it wasn't hard at all for me to admit I made a mistake. It was a great feeling like a huge weight had been lifted off my shoulders.
My hopeful and naive thoughts were that Scientology would help me overcome the emotional problems I was experiencing, Instead, Scientology added another problem, being thousands of dollars in debt. In his book 'L. Ron Hubbard-Messiah or Madman' Bent Corydon describes Scientology as an 'Organizational Vampire'. An organization that continually sucks money out of people any way it can.
A person can be a highly successful actor or business owner and still be a pathetic fool. Travolta, Cruise and others in the crowd have to know deep down how corrupt Miscavige and Scientology really is. They just look the other way.
I am not surprised that Travoltra showed up to prove his fealty. It is only slightly odd that Tom Cruise showed up. I guess he has no movies in the pipeline to protect by staying away. Having Dr. Minkoff (alias Dr. Drop your body) so close to the front should be damning for the entire $cienoverse.
The world needs some Xenu swag, fast!
