We want to thank the tipster who dug up a very interesting photo of Danny Masterson from his “DJ Donkey Punch” days.
Our tipster tells us the photo is from 2004, which is just about the time Danny was dealing with one of his alleged rape victims going to the LAPD with her claims that he’d attacked her.
Also in the photo is Danny’s That ’70s Show costar Wilmer Valderrama.
But it’s what they’re holding that made us do a double-take.
This was while the TV series was still in its 1998 to 2006 initial run, so perhaps it wasn’t too surprising that a female fan had apparently offered up her bra for the two to sign.
Valderrama penned “Wilmer was here” and signed his name on one cup. But Danny’s message is even more interesting:
“DJ Donkey Punched Here! Danny Masterson”
Isn’t that special.
When we first broke the news in 2017 that Masterson was under investigation by the LAPD for multiple rapes, we added an update to the post about Danny’s nightclub persona, “DJ Donkey Punch,” when former Scientology security chief Gary Morehead told us that he still had a souvenir from one of Danny’s 2001 gigs.
We added the image to our story that day, and we also noted the Wiktionary definition: “The Donkey Punch is a relatively simple maneuver. When engaged in anal sex from behind, simply punch your partner in the back of the neck so that the sphincter clenches up.”
It did seem somewhat remarkable that at the precise time, 2001-2004, when Masterson was later accused of violently raping multiple women, he was using a stage name that essentially advertised his fascination with being a sexual predator.
That year 2004 turned out to be something of a turning point, however. Not only did one of his victims go to the LAPD that June, but later in the year Masterson worked out a settlement with her to convince her to keep her mouth shut. (The victim, known as Jane Doe 1 in the criminal prosecution, has testified that she felt pressured by Scientology to accept the settlement or be declared a “suppressive person” and suffer “disconnection” by her family and friends. She is no longer a Scientologist today. Masterson grew up in Scientology and remains a member.)
After that brush with accountability, Masterson apparently decided it wasn’t so smart to be advertising his predilections in his DJ marketing materials, and he soon changed his stage name to the safer “DJ Mom Jeans.”
In 2016, Jane Doe 1’s case was reopened by the LAPD when two additional woman came forward with similar allegations from that same time period (2001-2003), and then more women emerged. When the Los Angeles DA’s office finally charged Masterson in June 2020, they revealed that they had considered the allegations of five women before charging him with forcibly raping three of them. His trial is scheduled for October 11 in Los Angeles, and if he’s convicted of all three rapes, he’s facing 45 years to life in prison.
We have to wonder, however, if the jury that will be assembled for Danny’s trial will get a chance to hear about “DJ Donkey Punch,” and if they’ll get a chance to see photos like this one.

Great evidence, great journalism. And for this not to be in a legal case when it clearly is relevant, is a sign of the flaw in our legal system.
If it does surface in the evidence in the legal case in court, would their response be that Danny was researching and wearing a character's behavior in life for increasing his actor authenticity when he portrays the nasty character in a movie or TV?
In either case, it's such relevant info, and ought to be remembered, and now it can be.
Media and the press "try" issues and people sometimes more thoroughly, and my understanding is writers and fiction books end up telling more truth since they can include all the evidence and history courts don't admit.
