In addition to the now understood consent issue and what makes it rape, I have found JD2’s explanation of how she could not emotionally accept and deal with it being rape 100% credible. How she tried, albeit with zero power or even influence, to transform the nightmare into something icky but comprehensible. How she believed even one follow up date would make everything sort of okay. Her words about trying to stay physically unharmed, omg. To get him to calm down. BLECCHH. Takes me back 50+ years. It all rings completely true to me.
I always look forward to your re-caps. Cohen has placed a lot of emphasis on the witnesses’ memories. I agree JD 2s mother’s testimony about what stuck out to her was strong. But it her than Masterson himself (maybe), who are the defense witnesses? Experts? It can’t be Luke Watson, who has been present constantly. So who? Looking forward to tomorrow. Thanks!
I really wish that the DA could've found someone who was at one of the bars or restaurants where the JDs encountered Danny. Given the shoddy investigation, the time elapsed and the fact that Danny was surrounded by Scientologists I guess it's not surprising.
