Thanks, Tony. I hope your Thanksgiving plans work out. You've sacrificed a lot. We appreciate it.

Nooooo! I was SO worried this would happen. I was more worried about straight out not guilty. I would love to know the breakdown of the numbers for guilty and not guilty. There has to be a large part of the jury that votes guilty and a few holdouts who say not guilty despite the evidence. I know we weren't there to capture it all in person. Even from Tony’s representation, I felt that the women’s stories were truthful and that they related them articulately. I can just see a couple of people saying no, will not send a man to prison for 45 years for things that happened 20 years ago regardless of the reason for delayed reporting to the police. I could be 100 percent wrong and I realize that. Until I hear different that's where I feel they are at. I'd be it's even 10-2 or 9-3 in favor or conviction.

I thought I read in one of the posts that the jurors don't know how long DM would be sentenced?

I'm really bummed with this decision too. I honestly didn't think that it would be this complicated especially after seeing a repeated pattern from DM.

I also watched 'DUI Guy' analysis of the court and jurors, who seemed were not fans of Cohen's approach.

This sucks. A part of me wonders if Scientology planted a member as a juror, but how would the court know?

I was thinking the same thing, that Scientology got to one of these jurors somehow. They think they are above the law, I would not be surprised.

If only there was a way to know this. And if it's true, hopefully the person will feel bad/guilty and change their minds. Regardless, this is evil, but I know that I shouldn't be surprised if someone was 'paid off'.

IF there is a mole, and IF they are a Scientologist, there won’t be any changing their mind due to feeling bad. Those who are not Scientologists are trash to them.

IF someone was paid off, now that might have a slim chance for a moral conundrum. I wouldn’t bet money on it though.

Oh, I did not know that the jurors were not aware of the minimum sentence! Very interesting. I would not be surprised at all if Scientology approached a juror and tried to bribe them. They may have tried to get someone favorable on the jury, and they may have succeeded. I see it being very much a gamble though to get someone on there out of all the juror possibilities. The court would never know. I hope that's true that they did not like Cohen’s approach. I honestly think that all of the jurors will look at the media or discuss it with at least one person close to them. In this day and age of constant information, I don't see how they can resist. And perhaps for some, it will help them to come to a decision or confirm what they already suspected. I don't see any great campaigns of innocence for DM in the media. I can only think that the break will be good for the JDs. I hope that I am correct and they return and find DM guilty on all three counts!

If they could infiltrate the CIA, they can infiltrate the courts. For them they all are low life wogs

I'm not 100% about the jurors not knowing the length of sentencing, but do recall a post whereby Tony answered another person's question regarding this. However, now that the jurors have a week off, they might 'find out' this information.

I agree with your comments. I was also thinking that the jurors being away from the court for a long period of time will be tempted to go online and/or friends/relatives will be talking to them. How can you not? So many people are glued to their phones even when grocery shopping, doctors office, hospital and crossing the street! All of which are annoying.

Holy CRAP.

I agree with Cohen about influence but the general public is in favor of the prosecution.

This jury is particularly sensitive to being approached or influenced by the you-know-whos.

Highly suspicious, sounds like someone got to the jury…. Looks like a deeper dive should be done in the jury. I wouldn’t trust this group as far as I could throw them.

TR's avatar

Agree 100%. This is suspect, you cannot put anything past the Church of Scientology. They are ruthless and will resort to anything to save their reputation and one of their own. This needs to be looked into.

Muriel's avatar

Is it too soon to discuss the possibility of a mole?

Brandy Givens's avatar

It’s not just you. Several mentions in these comments already, mine included. So suspicious that they’re already claiming deadlock!

Wow. Can't wait for the recap video. This will be a long week. Thankfully I'll have lots of distractions. Poor Tony. Can we donate to your flight funds? Thanks as always for your time and dedication....

At the risk of sounding inarticulate, holy shit. I'm sure at this point Cohen is praying for a hung jury. Three full days and a half and so few questions from the jury in my view means jurors aren't budging. Tony, thank you for your spectacular coverage.

And we wait… again. What a shitshow

Shit!! UGH!! I wasn't before but now I'm worried.

Thank you for all your hard work and exceptional reporting Tony!

I hope you have a safe flight home and a wonderful Thanksgiving!!

Tony, your image choice is giving me creepfest vibes.

What a f’ing let down. I knew this was going to happen, I think Cohen drug this out to the holiday thinking it would just get thrown out of court.

Muriel's avatar

I want to hear more about this birthday juror

MissyMissette's avatar

Tony - were you able to see who the foreman was?

What a terrible day. I have to say I am not surprised at all. After watching the jurors, it was apparent to me they were going to be deadlocked. There are specific reasons for this which are more complex than the trial itself. I’ve been documenting this in detail since last weekend and made this exact prediction. This isn’t about one or two hold outs, a Scientology mole, or inadequate representation. This is about disparate, divisive groups within the jury. I’d love to share more but I think it’s best for Tony if I do not. I want to thank this community for your camaraderie. My other friends think my interest in Scientology is weird - like Bigfoot or something. You give me a safe space to share my concerns and interest in exposing this dreadful cult. Again, thank you Tony for building this community. Safe holiday travels.
