I thought it might be fun to fact check the speech:
"Witness his Writers Of The Future legacy, now celebrating its 40th year, and which yet again just hit number one nationwide."
The latest WotF anthology is currently ranked #160,463 on Amazon, so I'm not sure where the #1 ranking comes from.
"In the Philippines where LRH discovered wonders inexplicable to the western world and where in honor of his wisdom a high sultan just declared LRH a rarely designated royal chief."
The "just" implies that this was recent; however, the last sultan of the Philippines died in 1986.
"What’s more, when all ads for the big game were stacked against each other who stole the show as most viewed — an airline? a new car? No, it was Scientology."
Incorrect. It was a Booking.com ad featuring Tina Fey, according to Variety.
"If you want to know just how curious people are out of more than 900 million channels on YouTube we just shot into the top one tenth of one percent with a quarter of a billion views."
The ad currently has 17M views on YouTube. Granted, that's a lot, but some Sea Org member must be falling down on the job because there are plenty of negative comments on the video, so some large percentage is obviously just going there to clown on it.
At this point, I decided that I don't have all day, but I'm sure there are LOTS more lies and exaggerations in the rest of his speech!
Thank you for fact checking. I see, the last sultan of the Philippines died in 1986. That explains a lot! WofF anthology...160,463 on Amazon, yeah, that's close enough to Number One, I guess...for them.
My youngest brother didn’t know what Writers of the Future was when he entered it in the 1980s and he got published in one of their anthologies. I read that story. It was … odd. I still have that anthology on my shelf because my brother sent it to me and because he’s in it. The smartest thing he did in that contest was enter under a pseudonym. He has been published 0 times since then. There’s another WOTF success story.
They're also still buying all the numbers thrown at them without looking at what that means. I mean, at least a good chunk of the website visits they bragged about have to be from plaintiffs, lawyers, and legal staff in preparation for their lawsuits against CoS, right?
Maybe at the time he earned it, which was like in the 1920's? "The youngest age at which someone has earned their Eagle rank is 11 ...." Not the youngest anymore.
Welcome. Lies about LRH. Lies about how they did stuff LRH wanted. They 'fixed' the whole org board. Calling Texas, USA a country. Explaining the birthday game where all these organizations work to make their lies on their statistics look plausible. A bunch of staff from orgs tslking about how awesome Scientology is and clearly under pressure and brain washing. COB asking people in the audience to do more tech or join staff.
Add in a lot of jargon and mumbo jumbo, rounded up numbers, and more people thanking COB than LRH and that pretty much sums it up.
"Witness his Writers Of The Future legacy, now celebrating its 40th year, and which yet again just hit number one nationwide." Wait...what did this competition win? Number one in what?
"In the Philippines where LRH discovered wonders inexplicable to the western world and where in honor of his wisdom a high sultan just declared LRH a rarely designated royal chief." Wait, what? A high sultan ... in the Philippines? This is only the first two or three paragraphs. And the drivel goes on. No names, no dates, no place, no time, no form, no event...All vagueness. I just couldn't read any more of this man's fluff. Does no one question these claims?
I'll leave others to actually read all of it, but a bit early on about Africa and a royal leopard skin and the Damnation Navy in Africa did make me laugh.
So. Many. Words.
So. Many. Lies.

Writers of rage future what a joke.

You fact checked 4 more items than anyone who is in Scientology fact checked. Blind faith.
Had to stop and laugh at America’s youngest Eagle Scout. They’re still buying that?
They're also still buying all the numbers thrown at them without looking at what that means. I mean, at least a good chunk of the website visits they bragged about have to be from plaintiffs, lawyers, and legal staff in preparation for their lawsuits against CoS, right?

I'm sorry, I'll wait for the Cliff Notes version.

Thank you Curious!
You're welcome. You made the right decision. ;)
I'm only at the beginning, but...
"Factually, it’s been both a marathon and a whirlwind."
COB and his speech writers need to word clear what 'factually' means.
"Witness his Writers Of The Future legacy, now celebrating its 40th year, and which yet again just hit number one nationwide." Wait...what did this competition win? Number one in what?

That was a heroic amount of transcribing.

That guy could sell sand to the Saharans!
He's right about it being the "golden age" ... but it's David's "golden age" of bullshit!
Love when he said, "and on the off chance that you think that I'm overstating it". Yup, David, I DEFINITELY think you've overstated it!
I don't know who wrote that speech...but whoever it was on uppers.
I have the feeling that David's needs, at the very minimum, 50 hours of CCH's AND the Truth R/D.
Never-in here. I am going to try to ignore all the things I want to comment on and instead ask one question. What is "L.R.A.C."?
