If it’s a hardship to go to court in Florida, why does Priscilla Presley visit so often?
A new filing in the lawsuit against Priscilla Presley in Orlando filed by a former business partner reveals a few new details about where that lawsuit is going, and we thought you’d want to hear about it.
We had told you previously that Brigitte Kruse, the auctioneer who had helped Presley set up several business to exploit her fame until, she alleges, Priscilla iced her out when her fortunes started improving, filed an explosive new updated complaint.
Priscilla had argued that the lawsuit shouldn’t apply to her because she has no real ties to Florida, and she had asked to testify remotely from Los Angeles in a November 13 evidentiary hearing to make that point. But Kruse uncorked the bombshell allegation in her new complaint that Priscilla does have a very real tie to the state, a previously unknown grandchild to her and Elvis Presley.
Elvis and Priscilla had only one child, their daughter Lisa Marie Presley, who died in January 2023. Lisa has three surviving children that we know about: Her daughter Riley and twin daughters Harper and Finley, all of whom live in California. The complaint offers no other detail other than that the grandchild lives in Florida today.
Priscilla didn’t oppose the new complaint being adopted, and so Judge John E. Jordan did just that on October 21, and the new complaint with its stunning allegation is now the official lawsuit of record.
Priscilla has 20 days after the filing of that new complaint to answer it, and so pretty soon we'll see how she addresses Brigitte's new allegations. We don't know if that means Priscilla will say anything about the allegation about a grandchild in Florida or not.
Kruse has now followed up her amended complaint with a new motion, and in it we learn that, just as she proposed in the new complaint, the Nov. 13 evidentiary hearing has been taken off the calendar and won’t take place after all.
But Kruse is still unhappy that Priscilla had tried to attend the hearing remotely after arguing that it would be a hardship for the aging celebrity to travel to Florida for it.
"Ms. Presley is a 78-year-old woman who resides in California. At all material times, including to the present, Ms. Presley has maintained her permanent residence and usual place of abode in California. Ms. Presley also does not own any offices or property in Florida," her attorneys had argued when they requested that she attend the hearing from L.A.
Kruse’s team clearly believe that this was a ruse, and that Priscilla should have no trouble coming to court the next time a hearing comes up. So they have filed the new motion asking to judge to disregard any future attempts by Priscilla to get out of appearing in court.
"Presley has owned real estate in Florida for over twenty years and is an investor in a Florida trailer park," they claimed in the new complaint, and in the new motion they emphasize that Priscilla is coming regularly to Florida to appear at casinos and other venues to pose for photos with fans at $100 a pop.
"[Priscilla] visited Florida at least four times in 2024 for shows in Miami, Immokalee, Tampa, Boca Raton, and Tallahassee," they point out.
In fact, the Tallahassee appearance had happened just a week before.
Her calendar, meanwhile, indicates that Priscilla has future engagements in Pensacola and Boca Raton in February.
"Given her frequent travel to perform shows in Florida, Defendant would not suffer undue hardship if required to testify in person at any evidentiary hearing," the motion says.
Priscilla is also a former Florida resident, of course, and lived there during the years that she and Lisa were living near Scientology’s Flag Land Base in Clearwater. In 2015 Lisa told us that she had left Scientology for good and that she had taken her mother out with her. But we have seen evidence suggesting that Priscilla may now be back in the church.
And if that’s the case, she can always visit Dave at Flag if she needs to show up at a hearing in Orlando, we figure.
