Leah Remini's lawsuit will be assigned a new judge after Judge Barbara Scheper recused herself yesterday, citing a rule that suggests her spouse is in some way involved in the case.
This one is simple. Judge Scheper recused herself because her husband David C. Scheper (and his law firm - Winston & Strawn) represented The Church of Scientology International and Church of Scientology Celebrity Centre International in at least one case - Bixler et al. v. Superior Court of Los Angeles County et al., case number B310559, in the Court of Appeal of the State of California, Second Appellate District.
At least the judge was honest instead of making the plaintiffs have to file motions and give Scn the ability to try and portray them as picky or unable to win without the right judge.
Well since Scientology is able to remove the next Judge if they wish, as usual this will drag it out longer. I’m unclear as to why the Judge did not recuse herself sooner. But it is what it is.

I definitely respect that the judge chose the ethical move and recused herself in accordance with CA Rules, and early on as you mentioned.
