We’re still waiting for Scientology to file responses to Leah Remini’s lawsuit, but she’s not waiting around. She’s already filed an amended complaint, adding material about how the “Fair Game” harassment that she’s suing over is only picking up speed since she filed her lawsuit on August 2.
We thought you’d want to see that new material, quoted directly from the new complaint. A first hearing in the case is scheduled for December 4…
In the short period of time since Ms. Remini’s Complaint was filed, Ms. Remini and others have been subject to continued, aggressive harassment.
An official statement issued by Scientology after the lawsuit asserted that Ms. Remini’s statements had “generated threats of and actual violence against the Church and its members as evidenced by multiple criminal convictions of individuals poisoned by Remini’s propaganda” and suggested that she consider emigrating to Russia.
In the same vein, this tweet was posted on a Scientology account on August 2nd, the day after the Complaint was filed:
Since the lawsuit was filed, there has been evidence of potential fraud flagged on several of Ms. Remini’s credit cards. The instance of fraud since the complaint was filed is significantly higher than what Ms. Remini’s business manager has observed in the past.
Last week, the business of Ms. Remini’s tutor was hacked, resulting in a $15,000 loss to his business account. Prior to the filing of the lawsuit, this individual received Scientology promotions at his home, consistent with prior instances in which Scientology has signaled its awareness that individuals are associated with Ms. Remini.
On August 15, 2023, Mike Rinder, who co-hosted The Aftermath and Scientology: Fair Game, and his wife were surveilled by an unknown vehicle. Their son and then neighbors alerted the Rinders to a “suspicious vehicle parked on the main boulevard of our community outside their house.” The same car preceded them on a drive to run errands and followed them into a parking lot. They came upon the same car again in a church parking lot adjacent to the entrance to their community. When the Rinders drove up to the car, the car pulled out, making a U-turn over a median to avoid them.
Mr. Rinder notes in a video posted on the blog that he had to engage in similar efforts against another individual when he headed OSA, and is certain that Scientology is surveilling him to ensure that he does not assist process servers in locating Mr. Miscavige or attempt to serve him personally.
This harassment is especially egregious as Mr. Rinder is currently undergoing treatment for cancer. Knowing that her friend, while ill, is subject to this surveillance, causes Ms. Remini great distress.
