Leah Remini files new motion asking court for an injunction to stop Scientology's harassment
We’re still waiting to see how Scientology’s legal team is going to answer Leah Remini’s lawsuit against David Miscavige and the church, but once again Leah is not waiting around as she files another motion with the court.
This time, she’s asking the court for an injunction that would stop Scientology’s harassment, which she says has only gotten worse since she filed her lawsuit on August 2.
She’s asking the court to stop Scientology “from stalking, harassing, and otherwise unlawfully interfering in the professional relationships of Plaintiff Leah Remini, her family members, and her professional associates.”
Some excerpts from the motion:
“Defendants have engaged in an intricate, years-long campaign to ‘utterly ruin’ Plaintiff as required by Scientology. [David] Miscavige has personally directed the untold number of attacks, including but not limited to: vicious social media posts defaming her and others; stalking; threatening advances; and interfering with Plaintiffs businesses. These deliberate and directed attacks continue to be carried out against Ms. Remini and those within her family, as well as against her professional and social network by a multitude of individuals both within Scientology or hired by Scientology…Ms. Remini respectfully requests that the Court intervene and issue an order enjoining these Defendants from harassing or attacking her, her family, Mike Rinder, and anyone attacked due to their relationship with Ms. Remini…
“Attacking sources of income is described as an ‘ideal :’ ‘IDEAL SCENE: Attackers against Scientology located and removed from their positions of power so that Scientology can get on with it. And any threat of attack restrained, leaving Scientology a clear field.’ Attacking someone's income also makes them vulnerable: ‘[t]hese persons can always lose their jobs. These jobs, permitting them power to destroy, are valuable to them. This is A POINT OF VULNERABILITY’…
“As directed by these orders Ms. Remini and those close to her have been subjected to a relentless drumbeat of attacks, harassment, threats and disruption by Scientology and its followers, led by Miscavige, for the last decade. This harassment has accelerated since the filing of her Complaint…
“Ms. Remini, her family, close friends, and professional colleagues have been subjected to escalating levels of harassment and stalking since inception of this action. These efforts against Ms. Remini and others are consistent with Scientology's history of badgering and intimidating those who challenge Scientology or its conduct, including, especially, litigants and witnesses, many of which are detailed in the facts herein. Scientology policies include exhaustive ‘Orders’ and ‘Battle Tactics’ commanding followers to ruthlessly attack and destroy whistleblowers or advocates for those who leave Scientology. While Ms. Remini has been subjected to these attacks since the moment she departed Scientology in 2013, Scientology has escalated its attacks on Ms. Remini since the filing of her Complaint and has included in the realm of its assaults those close to her. Multiple examples exist of Scientology members or agents harassing and defaming Plaintiff and those close to her on the internet and social media platforms. For example, The Expose Network, a known agent of Scientology, tweets daily defamatory statements related to Ms. Remini. Many of these falsely charge Ms. Remini with inciting heinous crimes against Scientology and its members…
“The persistent, inflammatory messages falsely associating Ms. Remini with hate speech are not only defamatory but are designed to destroy Ms. Remini's reputation and career. In an industry in which perception matters most, Defendants' attacks have an outsized, immediate, and irreparable impact on Ms. Remini's employment, well-being, and advocacy work. Potential employers an business partners are - and are meant to be - burdened not only with the damage to Ms. Remini's marketability, but the prospect of Scientology attacks against themselves and their families if t work with Ms. Remini. This would achieve Defendants' admitted purpose, as outlined in the policies related to Suppressive Persons: to deprive Ms. Remini of a platform from which to speak…
“Scientology's assault on Ms. Remini, as well as those she cares for, has also taken the form of stalking and threatening advances. On August 28, 2023, an unknown man tried to follow Ms. Remini's guest, who was in an Uber, through the gates into Plaintiffs residential community. The Uber driver blocked the unknown driver from entering, at which point he was approached by the unknown man who began verbally attacking him and Ms. Remini's guest.31 The unknown driver then spent twenty minutes punching codes into the security gate box trying to gain access into the community, without ever calling any of the residents.32 Failing in his attempts, he departed. The incident was repo1ied to the Los Angeles Police Department…
“Ms. Remini's mother was recently the subject of stalking, activity that was caught on the home surveillance footage. Last week, at 5:00 a.m., two men approached her mother's home, located on a steep hill on a dead-end street. The men parked on the side of the street, walked up the hill and stood in front of the home while talking on a mobile phone. After knocking on her mother's door, they departed.38 Additionally, on September 10, 2023, a window at her mother's diner was broken in the middle of the night. 39 Ms. Remini's sister recently received texts on he private cell phone from fake individuals posing as Ms. Remini's acquaintances and requesting her contact information.
“The Aftermath Foundation, a non-profit organization comprised of former Scientologists who support those who want to leave Scientology and the Sea Organization, has, since the filing of Ms. Remini' s Complaint, been subjected to phony complaints of alleged misconduct relating to it fundraising policies. (See Dec. Claire Headley.) This harassment includes using a private investigator, known to be affiliated with Scientology, to make harassing calls to the foundation's directors stating the organization is under investigation by a state agency. (Id.) The investigator left a voicemail message for at least one director inviting her to be a "witness," or offer names of those willing to be a "witness," in the alleged state agency investigation. (Id.) Such interference by Scientology may have the effect of damaging the non-profit. (Id.)
“In one of its most egregious aggressions against those associated with Ms. Remini, on August 15, 2023, former high-level Scientologist Mike Rinder, who co-hosted Ms. Remini' s award-winning A&E docuseries Leah Remini: Scientology and The Aftermath, and who is mentioned in Ms. Remini's complaint, was stalked and harassed by an unknown vehicle. (See Dec. of Mike Rinder.) His son and then neighbors ale1ied Mr. Rinder and his wife to a "suspicious vehicle parked on the main boulevard of our community outside their house." (Id.) The same car proceeded to follow Mr. Rinder and his wife as they ran errands and followed them into a parking lot. (Id.) The Rinders later came upon the same car in a church parking lot adjacent to the entrance to their community. (Id.) When the Rinders approached the car, the car pulled out, eventually making an illegal U-tum over a median to avoid them. On his blog, Mr. Rinder notes his familiarity with such tactics as operations directed by Scientology's Office of Special Affairs ("OSA"), which he once headed.
“The harassment of Mr. Rinder is especially egregious as he is currently undergoing cancer treatment. Knowing that her friend, while ill, is subjected to this level of stalking and harassment causes Ms. Remini great distress. Meanwhile, Scientology-run social media accounts celebrate Mr. Rinder's diagnosis on Twitter: ’If you're lying, you're dying’…
”The defamatory attacks upon Ms. Remini are relentless. Defendants knowingly and willingly published, or caused to be published, false and defamatory statements designed not only to cause Ms. Remini emotional damage and harm, but also to harass and threaten her, her family members, and those associated with her. Defendants' statements range from stating Ms. Remini is a deranged bigot who inspires hate crimes to falsely stating that her daughter was committed to a psychiatric facility. In one of the more vicious defamatory statements, Scientology operatives claimed Ms. Remini directly incited murder.”
Declarations from Remini, Rinder, and Claire Headley were also submitted, and a hearing date of December 7 requested.

I am so proud of Leah. It boggles my mind that DM and Scientology are proving Leah’s accusations by ramping up the stalking and intimidation. This is what our tax dollars in the US fund and it infuriates me.
I hope the clerks for judges who handle any scientology civil or criminal cases anywhere are well-informed about the "church" of scientology's roughly 70-year DOCUMENTED legacy of criminality.
