In 2020, Mark Bunker was in a five-way race for a seat on Clearwater, Florida’s city council, and he received a plurality of 6,170 votes and a stunning victory. Four years later, running for re-election, Bunker increased his number of votes to 8,682. But this time he was in a three-way race, and one of his competitors was a firefighter, Ryan Cotton, who had been endorsed by several Republican figures in this nonpartisan election. And that helped in a primary election that had Donald Trump on the ballot but not Joe Biden. Cotton edged Bunker out with 9,351 votes.
So very proud of WBM. Never one to rest on his laurels!
I like that he has framed photos of respected journalists in his office.
Contrast that with Hubbard’s office, seen above. Surrounded by word he wrote (and no one else’s), a reproduction of his initials on a stone hanging behind him, his Commodore’s cap from his personal navy, and —just in case you still didn’t get it— a nameplate on his desk. An exercise in ostentatious narcissism.
So bummed you won’t be on the board. Hopefully Mark will have more time to tackle Scientology head on. I hope Clearwater knows what they’ve lost. I hope this new republican keeps fighting for downtown Clearwaters survival and release the grip of David Miscavige and his destructive cult.
And Alex Gibney is right, the AOSH EU bullding in Copenhagen is lovely (and next door to a round circus building, in matching style, which is seriously nice). I have no idea how many victims are fleeced in that building, but I hope it is all the opposite of very profitable.
Thank you, Mark for everything you did on the city council. I am so sorry to hear that you weren't elected to a second term, but excited to see what he will do next.
Mark you did an amazing job on the city council. I have no doubt you will now create new projects of equal importance. You are a film maker so go for it.🎥🎬🎤
I ain’t finished yet. Love Wise Beard Man.
So many times Mr Bunker has been at the front and Center of the movement to educate and effecting change regarding Scientology.
Legend keeps on.

I don’t like cold polished marble shrines. They repel, not attract me. Good job Miscavige.
As for wbm. He did great work while in office, no doubt his next chapter will be as entertaining.

Mark Bunker!! Now that’s how ya lose an election and hold your head up high. What a mensch!
Nice work, Mark!

Whadya mean "no people"? I counted at least two in the pictures!
Always gives grace and peace in any situation, this is why we know him as Wise Beard Man. Looking forward to hearing more from him soon.

Thank you Mark for all you did and I am not surprised you already have plans for after your current term ends! Good luck!
P.S. Is there anything that can be done to kill that ridiculous restraining order now that it's been decades?
LRH’s office looks like a long skinny broom closet with no windows. He’d hate it
It was an honor (and a lot of fun) to help you this time around. Onward!
