PODCAST: Clarissa Adams on Scientology ripping apart families right now
tonyortega.substack.com
Listen now (78 min) | One of the people who reached out to us about the unfortunate news about Jenny Burpee was Clarissa Adams, who knew Jenny in the Sea Org. It’s been a while since we had talked to Clarissa, and so we were anxious to catch up with her, and then we invited her on the podcast to talk about the terrible example of Scientology disconnection that has ripped apart her family.
Leaving the Sea Org was the happiest day of Clarissa's life, "because nothing in my life that has been wonderful could have happened without that moment" 😭
I love a good escape story, but Clarissa is still dealing with the fallout from escaping. She has taken care of her mental health and is doing well. That is sort of a success story. Too bad her biological family is still in thrall to the Niblet.
Cruel behavior in scientology is ubiquitous. It's an "everyday thing". The excessive control, the rudeness, the bullying, the gaslighting, the shaming, the manipulation, the utter coldness...
Because, yo, there is a universe to save...and you need to be an obedient slave to realize that "star-high" goal. What an utter crock of shit. Institutionalized evil. Wow.
Hubbard-pimp-hubris: " freeloader debt ". Some Hotel California shit: you can check out, but you can't leave. Remember, Hublard said the 9th dynamic was MONEY. Priorities. Pay for the "privilege" of being fucked over while acknowledging that you are a "degraded being" for leaving the Sea Org(yeah, there is a policy that says exactly THAT!).

My heart breaks listening to Clarissa talk about the Scientology kids being separated en masse from their parents.

Clarissa was physically sick en route to sign her Sea Org contract. Says everything.
Wonderful Clarissa. I'm so looking forward to this podcast.
The best part of Scientology is when you leave it.
Clarissa: "I'm not going to remember all these acronyms."
How lovely that Clarissa has reached this point :)
33 minutes in. Mind already blown...

Great interview, thanks to both of you!
