We didn’t really need an excuse to bring Mark Ebner back to the podcast, but what the hell, we figured Tom Cruise coming out with another movie was reason enough to call our old pal for his thoughts.
I know, I loved it! I have said this about TC for a while, met with some looks of disbelief by some people. To me, you have to be able to make the audience FEEL, which is hard to do if you can’t feel it yourself
TC is getting more blowback from critics over the scripts in the MI series and maybe the next one will jump the shark. One can hope. I truly want to see that franchise fall down and lose money. Herr Egner's take on TC is hilarious and damning.
It appears from a cursory glance at IMDB that Ebner is correct about the crew being mostly non-American: a great many are Norwegian, Italian, part of the "Abu Dhabi Unit," the "South Africa Unit" or the "Splinter Unit." Many more are from the UK. Someone with IMDB Pro should look further into this, because Ebner's claims are definitely based in fact.
The film takes place in Abu Dhabi and Venice, Italy, but one has to wonder if the filming locations were chosen in advance of writing the script for the sake of convenience. Where were the previous M.I.s filmed? These are simple questions that anyone familiar with this franchise could answer, but like most people here (and Ebner), I'm just not that interested in most TC productions.

I caught wind of Mark Ebner and you Tony, you got deep into the stories, you both, and when I was contemplating blowing Sea Org, even in 2002 December, both your guys Scientology longer extended articles work, I caught wind of, even on the inside even on the RPF. (The old Freedom Mags used to mistakenly do collage photos of the negative media with "enemies" articles in it, and some of the collage pieces articles slipped thus through, even to us RPFers since Freedom Mags were the only outside media we were allowed), so on the RPF, in the end, for me, when it was lagging taking forever that is when I told my ethics officer I was thinking of going to the media, I was thinking of you two! Thankyou eternally Mark Ebner for taking up Scientology in your work. I didn't then know you both by name, but I heard of journalists like you, and YOU were the obvious journalists to go talk to, in my mind, even though I didn't know you by name. Praise the journalists like you guys, forever!
(My last job in Sea Org was at Author Services Inc and staff there received the news clippings of all the negative anti Scientology press, so I also was able to see which journalists were most likely to DO the detailed stories like Mark you, and Tony all these years since, have done. You guys got into it!
I couldn’t believe the transparent request Tom Cruise made to SAG-AFTRA to allow actors (HIM) to continue to promote their (HIS) movies!!! Best part?? THEY REFUSED and told him to get his ass on the picket lines!!! bhahaha!!!
