The police certainly should have the taken her aside to determine her safety and condition. It is most likely that the "attorney" was representing Scientology and not Shelly. Victims of abuse are questioned away from their alleged, potential abuser. Any suspicion of possible untoward influence from "her" attorney obligates law enforcement to question her in private. In this case, Shelly should be questioned away from the facility because conversations are monitored and recorded which would further intimidate her cooperation and dissuade her from being honest with law enforcement. The police should have an unbiased attorney with them for Shelly instead of a "Scientologist attorney.
