It’s been a while since we’ve received a Scientology fundraising event report. We always enjoy these really long fliers the church puts together about what a success these shindigs are.
And even rarer is a peek at what’s going on up in Beantown, where an Ideal Org is planned in a totally out-of-the-way spot next to a highway, in keeping with Scientology leader David Miscavige’s new notion of where a gleaming new cathedral should be located. (In other words, somewhere with zero foot traffic.)
But whatever the merits of Boston’s future Ideal Org, there’s plenty of money to raise now, and how do you convince fatigued Scientologists who have been constantly hit up for cash to show up for another fleecing?
You pull out all the stops and go all in with… a lobster?
We have to admit, that’s a new one, and we think it’s adorable. So let’s look at the results here. Keep in mind, “humanitarian” is code for $100,000 and a “New Civilization Builder” is someone who has given at least $1 million.
How much closer is the Boston project to actually getting under construction and opening?

Group Therapy: Our round table of rowdy regulars on the week’s news
The title of this article should be “The Boston Fleece”. The mascot should be a lamb. And the guest speaker to lead them to slaughter was Craig Jensen. I used to look up to him. He kept me on the straight and narrow bridge with his pep talks and Hubbard business acumen. Fortunately he looks to be diminished in his capacity to inspire.
The huge crowd at the fundraising event was insipid. I for one will continue to work to expose its fraud and abuse. The ideal org money grabs are out and out fraud.
