Morning session, Day 19 (Day 15 since testimony started), Danny Masterson retrial. Much smaller crowd this morning after yesterday's full courtroom. There's some consternation among the media folks this morning. The AP apparently said in a story yesterday that the jury was made up of seven men and five women, when we reported originally that it was the other way around, seven women and five men, and all original 12 jurors are still in place. (We've only lost a single alternate juror who left to be with his father in the hospital.)
I think the prosecution really brought their A game to this second trial.
It's in the court record that the "church" of scientology not only protected a serial rapist, but
also subjected the victims to shaming and harassment while making them pay for a "therapy"
that would help them understand why they "weren't raped " and why they were fully responsible
for what happened to them. They were also pressured to adhere to the "church's policy" of NOT reporting crimes such as these to the police!
Just sit with that depth of depravity and evil for a moment: they were gaslighted, harassed, bullied, threatened, and silenced. By "the most ethical group on the planet", allegedly in possession of "the only technology which can save humankind."
For fuck's sake, enough of this cult and its horrid abuses and sociopathic criminality!!!
I don't think I have ever wanted someone to be found guilty as much as I do him. He's a sick sexual predator that needs to be stopped! Who knows how many other Victims there are. Read all the transcript and sounds like the people did a much better job this time. Keeping my fingers crossed.
You have the opportunity show them there is justice for them. It does exist.... Not about women seeking money. They came here to be heard. They sacrificed their dignity, their privacy, and their peace for that prospect, of having their voices heard. Great closing. So much better than last trial. Lord let there be justice 🙏
Hoping for swift and conscientious justice for the JDs. They've been thru enough and deserve to be treated fairly. Cohen has a job and he will get paid. He's still a d-bag.
Mr. Fancy Pants is living proof that the American justice system needs to be reinvented. If Defense knows their client is guilty (which this defense team surely does) they should ethically and ONLY take the position that ensures that Masterson would get what is fair and what he deserves. NOTHING MORE.
That's the ethical position to take no matter how much money a client is paying. But the Cohen defense team, instead, is pushing to get a hung jury or Not Guilty verdict.
They are using jury manipulation, exaggerations, and lies to supplant justice. That's why I say they are unethical and immoral.
The courtroom is best and really only works when it's a place for justice, and not warfare between warriors and pocketbooks.
So, Cohen insists that rape with drugging is not forcible. And the judge tells him that, yes, drugging is forcible.
I agree with the judge, but wonder about possible appeal?
Anyway - Sterling effort, the witnesses! And I hope the jury sees this the way I continue to see it, that defendant Danny "DJ Donkey Punch" Masterson is guilty. Very guilty.
Oh my gosh. They learned so much from the first jury! Really answering every point here.

If Danny Masterson is found guilty doesn't that mean the IJC is guilty of covering up high crimes?
Mueller said everything I was thinking--hoping--that he would say. I am so pleased he took this strong stand. Outstanding!
Thank you for diligent and excellent coverage of this trial.
Is that the Justice Train coming? I can feel the ground shake.
