Our frequent contributor Sunny Pereira, a former Scientology Sea Org official at the Hollywood Celebrity Centre, came to the Danny Masterson trial on the last day of testimony. She was there as an advocate for her friend, Rachel Smith, who was the final witness to testify in the trial. We asked her for some thoughts on the trial, and this is what she sent us.
I was thinking that the jury has not heard so much. It’s like they are being told this guy may have raped these three girls. Ok, that’s fine, but they are not being allowed to hear about the brainwashing, the outside influences, the cult think, all the other things that play into why it took so long for this to even become a case. What they are not being allowed to say may sink their case.
It’s like someone from Warren Jeffs’ cult saying “the man had sex with me 15 years ago” but not being allowed to tell the jury about the mind f#&k that made them believe it was ok for this old man to have sex with a child.
Thank you Sunny, your experiences are enlightening. Anyone who has been a well programmed $cientologist would know not to go to the police for anything involving another Clam. It appears that the Jane Does will have to pin their hopes on the civil lawsuit. I don't understand why any jury would not have found Rapey guilty on all three counts.
The Judge pushed things so so much to get this trial finished before Thanksgiving that she struck witnesses from appearing that could have sealed the jury from a decision easily within hours of deliberation. She caused this mess, in my humble opinion. If we’d heard from Lisa Marie, well, wouldn’t that just have been a done deal? Now it’s too late. I’m just sick about what could have been,, and how the testimony about how the church was culpable in this never got entered into evidence and instead the janes just look like they colluded against him . The Scientology insurance that a rapist will never be charged... 😭🤬😱
