We told you previously that we have been in contact with Mike Rinder as he has gone through more cancer treatments recently, and now we can see the result as he appeared quite changed in a series of seven short videos he posted to his YouTube channel last night.
He reveals publicly in the first video something he had shared with us some time ago, that his cancer has spread to his brain and spinal column, which has required debilitating radiation treatments.
Despite his condition, and the obvious physical toll it took him to record the videos, he said he had some things he wanted to explain and clear up that have been going on over the last couple of years.
They are things that we have been aware of, but it’s our policy here at the Underground Bunker not to focus on disputes between ex-Scientologists, as we prefer to spend our energy investigating the Church of Scientology itself. But if you are curious about what Mike and others have been going through, the videos are short and to the point.
You can see them here: One, two, three, four, five, six, seven.
We consider Mike Rinder a great friend, and we continue to put faith into the first-rate medical team that he and Christie Collbran have put together. We look forward to having Mike back in action when he’s healthy again.
USS Edsall, subject of L. Ron Hubbard tall tales, found
For Veterans Day two days ago, the US Navy released the news that the wreck of the USS Edsall, lost in fighting with the Japanese in 1942, had been found on the ocean floor by the Royal Australian Navy last year.
One of our readers pointed out that this was the ship L. Ron Hubbard had claimed to be on when he spun wild tales of survival during the war.
We immediately thought of Chris Owen, who has done so much good work investigating and exposing Hubbard’s war lies, and whose piece on Hubbard’s non-existent war wounds we published again just Monday.
Of course Chris had already heard the news about the ship and had posted something about it at his Twitter account…
And here’s an excerpt from Chris’s excellent history of Hubbard’s actual war experiences, Ron the War Hero, which describes Hubbard’s claims about the Edsall, and which we first published in 2019.

Group Therapy: Our round table of rowdy regulars on the week’s news
As a cancer survivor I understand the toll the treatment takes on one’s body.
I think I understand why at this time he has chosen to speak out. And he deserves our time to listen to him.
Mike was so helpful to me when I finally got out of Scientology. I relate to his situation in terms of the stress that he has gone through to speak out against the cult and the incessant fair gaming he has gone through. And that stress does take a toll. I wish him good energy and wellness. I know what it takes. I’m still working daily on healing.
I do not want to encourage discussions here about any drama, but I do have to be honest about two things from my end:
1. Many years ago I did occasionally watch ASL's videos; but I stopped because it seemed like 95% of them was him reading Bunker or Rinder posts wholesale.
Especially as someone who has been a content creator, that really turned me off and to not even offer links to the content he was reusing was extremely distasteful.
2. Despite others' many requests to do so, I appreciate how Tony and the Bunker have continued to not get involved in or report on any of the drama.
My respect for Tony grew even more as I saw him consistently refuse to be drawn in. My hat goes off to you sir for maintaining your focus and journalistic integrity.
